Macbook Air 2012 Hot, Constant Fan, Short battery life
I have a 2012 MacBook Air 11". i7 2.0 512gb 8gb. I've had it for 3 days. From the beginning it is very hot and the fan is running at what seems like top speed constantly. A fully charged battery lasts 1.5 hours for email, web, and MS office apps. It's like there is something running in the background that is sucking the battery fast. I don't notice any speed reduction but I'm not using anything very intesive.
I have used a 2011 macbook air 11" 1.8 256gb 4gb for the last year and typically got 3-4 hours of battery life. That computer didn't get this hot unless there were multiple apps running and some CPU intense processes like google earth or video rendering.
I've called apple support and their suggestion is to take it to the apple store. If there is a known problem and or solution that doesn't require a full day of driving and waiting that would be better.

Macbook air i5 vs i7 Software Engineering course
Okay, I realise there are hundereds of threads on which to get, but I STILL cannot make up my mind.
I am starting university in september on a Software Engineering course and I am undecided on which to get, the i5 or the i7, and if to me, it is worth the extra cost.
I will be getting the 13", 8GB RAM 256GB SSD.
I'm not really sure what the course will require me to do with the Macbook air, but I can assume programming, writing and compiling, Virtual Machines with Windows 8 and Linux, I should also mention that I am taking a reasonably powerful desktop with me that has a AMD Phenom II x6 1100t, if this is too slow for my needs then the desktop is getting an upgrade, so anything requiring a lot of processing power will be done on their.
I would like to take my work with me at all times and make sure the Air can manage things like virtual machines with no problem when I'm not near my desktop.
The differences in battery life dont really bother me, as it is understandable that if the CPU is under more load and it is performing tasks quicker than the i5, the i7 will run out of battery quicker.
I haven't really heard much about the real world differences in temperature and battery life between the i5 and i7.
I would like to hear what you guys recommend as results day is next week, I am hoping to order my Macbook Air the next day.

Is my macbook air charger faulty?
I've a macbook air, got it in 2011. I had to replace the charger about 2 months ago, cos the one i had was ripped. With the new one, I cant just put it in. I have to put something under the charger to put a little pressure on it and force it upwards. Sometimes it also says it's charging but it's not. it doesn't look like there's a problem with the laptop itself. Also, sometimes when it charges, it will become absolutely scalding hot. Does this sound like a problem with the charger? I know it's covered by warranty, but don't wanna send it out and be without a charger for a few days, only to have them tell me it's fine
Whenever i play dota 2 my macbook pro gets really hot. is this ok?
I just recently got my macbook pro 13 inch with normal factory specs. i downloaded steam and got dota 2 which is btw a really fun game. but whenever i play it, about 10 minutes in my computer starts to get really hot on the bottom. it gets hot to the point where if i put my hand there to see how hot it is, it starts to burn and actually hurt my hand and it doesnt feel good to keep it there long lol. but im wondering if this is normal and if its ok to keep playing? When it gets that hot it makes me want to stop playing because i dont want to progressively fry the components overtime as i need to keep this computer for a long time. i almost forgot to mention that im playing on pretty settings as far as graphics. i have alot of things turned off including shadows and antialiasing and other stuff that i really dont care about and the game still looks great but the computer still gets really hot. any help would be appreciated and thank you!

I have recently been informed that the macbook air is the better macbook to get. My next question is if i should get the 11 or 13 inch and which year model i should get as a college student ( using the machine for browsing, creating files and doing projects)

My macbook pro battery will not hold charge
My macbook pro battery will not charge. The laptop will only turn on after it has been plugged in to charge, and when unplugged it automatically dies. When plugged in the battery indicator is green and the top right corner of the screen says "Not charging". I left town for a week with the laptop off and I came back in town and it won't charge. What can I do to fix this?
Macbook Air won't restart until I disconnect the battery
I have a mid 2011 13 inch Macbook Air. If I shut down the computer it will not restart unless I open the bottom panel and disconnect the battery for several seconds. The battery is fully charged. Reseting SMC did not help. After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, the laptop will start up fine and work until it is shut down again.
Any ideas what the problem/solution is?
2009 MacBook dies at 80%
My 2009 MacBook has recently been dying at 80% charge, and I tried resetting the SMC, but nothing happened. I can't calibrate the battery because it won't go down to 0%, only 80%. Here's the information for the battery:

It says the condition is normal, but earlier today I turned on my computer and it said service battery, but then I restarted my computer and it said normal again. Why? Does it need to be replaced? It only has 72 cycles.

Macbook Battery Not Detected but stays on when unplugged
After replacing my MacBook 13" Late 2006 inverter cable, I could not turn it on when unplugged, even though the battery indicator indicated 3 out of 5 LEDs. I plugged it to the AC power and then it went on. When it booted, the Magsafe connector was orange and the battery icon was like this

After about a minute it went green, an X appeared on the battery icon and this was the information shown:

The thing is, if I unplug the Magsafe connector, the Macbook would still stay on and would read this

Whenever I plug in the Magsafe, the LEDs don't flash slowly as they used to before. It seems like the battery only gives energy but doesn't take none from AC source. I tried to drain the battery but it would go off after around 20 minutes, with battery still indicating 3/5 LEDs, I tried to reset and update SMC, I did everything I could find on Google and Apple Discussions. No luck.
All I want to know if it's a computer, battery or software issue. Anyone got any ideas?

I haven't been able to turn on my Macbook since I shut it down a few days ago.
I turned my Macbook off a few days ago and it was perfoming normally when I did. The next morning I went to turn it on and it just wouldn't go on. I tried absolutely everything, including resetting the SMC. Despite not turning on, when I plug it in to charge the battery indicator lights all light up and stay lit up, but the last one flashes. What does this mean? I can't find anything about on the battery indicator page.
I have a early 2008 black Macbook.

Mid 2010 white Macbook unibody turns off when certain keys are pressed on keyboard.
I have a mid 2010 white unibody Macbook laptop. Seems to run perfectly fine but there seems to be some kind of short or something in the keyboard or motherboard. Some keys respond and other keys don't respond at all but some keys on the keyboard, when pressed, cause the entire computer to immediately shut down. Any idea what might be causing this? Should I replace the keyboard or might I need a new motherboard and keyboard? I've tried a complete software wipe with restore and a wipe without restore. All software and firmware up to date also. Looking into this for a friend. No known liquid damage. Possibly heat damage, he said it's been constantly left on a towel/blanket where little to no ventilation for fan is available. 13" MacBook, Late 2008, new battery won't hold charge longer than 2hours 40 minutes.
I have a 13" MacBook, late 2008 model. Just purchased a new battery from Apple. Fully charged, then full drained, fully charged again, battery will only last 2 hours and 40 minutes.
I have also noticed that my trackpad seems to JUMP about 1/2" from where I have the curser located.
Currently running 10.7.5 OS.
Any sugguestions would be greatly appreciated.

Battery completely drained on my 2006 White MacBook. Now battery will not charge.
I let the battery completely drain on my 2006 White MacBook (Mac OS X 10.5.8). Now the battery indicator says that it is plugged in and 0% charged. WHen the magsafe is unplugged the computer shuts down. Previously, the battery worked great with hours of charge. I dont want a new battery unless it needs one. I tried to reset the SMC and I also ran the AHT. Is there anything else to do?

MacBook Pro won't turn on
Hello,
I have read tons of different discussions but none of them seem to address the same exact symptoms I am currently having. First of all, I just replaced my battery with a brand new one. The manual says to charge it all the way before turning it on, then to let it drain and charge it again while it is shut down, and to repeat this process at least 3 times. Well, the new battery worked perfectly for the first day and gave me 4 hours of battery life. Then I used it til it was almost dead again and as soon as I got the battery warning that my computer was almost dead, the computer immediately died, before I even had a chance to shut it down. I plugged it in and the indicator light went straight to green. I turned the computer over to look at the LED lights and there were none flashing. When I pressed the button, the first light flashed but then went away. I tried turning on the computer but it did nothing. Then I took the battery out and put it back in--still nothing. I tried the SMC reset--nothing. I put my old battery back in (which wouldn't charge at ALL before, hence why I replaced it) and the indicator light went to orange and the battery started charging. I was totally surprised--my computer is charging the old battery now, and not the new one. However, the old battery is only showing 1 out of the 5 green LEd lights and it doesn't seem to charge it any further. The computer still won't turn on. Why is my computer doing this? Why does it shut down so abruptly on its own and not turn on when plugged in? Should I send back the new battery or just go to the Genius Bar? Please help!!
Macbook Core 2 duo Bulging Battery
Hi My Dad's Macbook 4.1 intel core 2 duo's battery has bulged underneath.
It will not charge and it is also inhibiting the use of the track pad button.
My Dad was encouraged to take out Applecare but never used it. This has now expired. Is it possible that this is a fault that Apple will repair or supply a new battery due to it being a common problem?
Any help/advice is much appreciated
MacBook stopped charging after battery depletion
Hi there,
I drained the battery on my five-year-old MacBook one evening while working...to the point that it shut off on me. I then did not re-charge it immediately, nor did I start the computer up again for several weeks. I thought, "Eh, no big deal, I'll just plug it in and let it charge up again when I use it next time." Well, I just plugged her in and now the charging cord is lit up green as though the battery is completely charged, yet the battery indicator at the top left of the screen says (Not Charging.) Also, if I unplug the battery charging cable, the notebook shuts completely off.
Any suggestions or ideas, as I have NEVER had battery charge issues with this notebook before?
