4th gen. overheating

My girlfriend's 4th gen. iPod touch has been giving her a warning saying that it is too hot and to wait before using it.  We have noticed that it has only started doing it ever since she started plugging it into the outlet on her desk lamp.  In my opinion, the battery is getting too hot while charging, but just wanted to double check with you guys.  If you have any ideas, thanks in advance!

New charger causing problems with battery and overheating.

So, recently the charger that came with the macbook i bought in october 2011 had to be replaced because the cable was splitting near the connector. I bought a new official apple one, but i've noticed that it takes much longer to charge the battery. I plugged it in at around 11am this morning and it hadn't reached 100% charge until about 6 or 7pm. I unplugged it from the power source about 10 minutes ago and the battery has dropped to 88% already. I also noticed that for long periods of time whilst it was plugged in it would display the (not charging) message. My laptop has been on all day, but the lid hasn't been open, and it feels very hot and i can hear the machinery inside whining. I have never had this problem before buying the new charger.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?

( also, just noticed that my battery level is at 80% and it says i have 1.25 hours remaining!

i'm not running anything that should be draining the battery this quickly! )

Overheating and Loud Fan on Macbook 13" HELP!

Hey Guys

I hope someone can Help

  • I've had my Macbook Since early 2008. But only in the last 8 Months my fan has become increasingly Noisy and Hot.

  • I upgraded to Snow Leopard last year (I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.8 ) and it seems it became alot noisier after this.

  • I originally only had 2gb Ram, but upgraded this week to 4gb ram thinking that would help. I've also gone and purchased an external hard drive and moved all my movies, photos, music etc onto this in an attempt to not only back up my files but hopefully alleviate some of my space on the mac.

  • I've tried the Resetting SMC and also followed another apple step by step guide (??) and in my activitiy monitor nothing is even over 10% and i've been regularly checking for the last hour.

I'm aware the fan is always running, but the noise is ridiculous. I've done so much research on this and i'm at a complete loss, I know there is only one fan in this version of macbook and it's definitely running as I hear it all the time.

Can any one help me at all?! Please??

I know when using websites with java/flash can affect this and i accept that- But I rarely do this as the noise just ruins the experience.

Any help...would be vastly appreciated.

Regards
