Home button no contact

Hey guys, I have a quick question. I just successfully replaced my iPod Touch 4th gen's battery. I put everything back EXACTLY the way it was, and even the screen fits perfectly on (as far as I can tell) but the home button won't make any contact with the button underneath. I know its not the button underneath because if I press it there, it works. I just need a way to get contact between the button on the front with the button underneath. Any ideas on how I can resolve this? Thank you so much! Oh and btw my iPod is already almost 2 years out of warranty so it wasn't really a big deal if I broke it but everything works fine. Thanks again!

My 1st generation Nano has a serial # that Apple says they will replace my battery because of possible danger. How can I get it done?  My operating system is currently updated, tho I don't now have the numbers.
