My MacBook Pro is shutting down by itself. How do I fix this?

Recently, my 15-inch mind-2012 MacBook Pro (10.8) has been shutting itself down. From what I've read, this is because it thinks it's overheating. This is not the case at this point in time, since it is shutting down on startup after a night of being shut down in room temperature. I try rebooting it, and it immediately shuts down two seconds after pressing the power button. On the occasion it does boot past the login screen, I can hear the fan running at an incredible/abnormal speed, even though the laptop isn't very warm at all. I also dual-boot Windows 7, and even on that partition, the fan is running abnormal and the system shuts itself down in a short time. I've tried resetting the PRAM and the SMC, I've tried running Disk Utility, and I'm afraid to try using Internet Recovery or System Restore. I am at a loss as to what I should do. Could someone please help?

My MacBook Air keeps randomly shutting off on me and does not show battery status.

When this first started happening, it would only happen when I would use skype. Then the other day I was on youtube and my computer completely shut off on me out of no where. I had it plugged in to the charger, and after it shut off from being on youtube, it completely stopped working. My charger wont work with my mac anymore. The light doesn't turn on, and it doesn't show up as charging. ALSO, the battery status has completely vanished. When I look at my battery health and status, it says that it's not charging and that I don't even have a battery. My fans are also on HIGH SPEED and will not stop. & my keyboard light is not working anymore. Do I go to the Apple store and ask for a new battery? Has anyone else ever had this problem?

I also noticed this started happening when I installed Mountain Lion version 10.8.2. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Macbook (OS X 10.4.11) shutting down w/o warning

I'm trying to help a friend troubleshoot why her old MacBook keeps shutting down without warning within minutes unless she is actively typing or using the touchpad. The 56 GB hard drive is only 1/2 full. Since she only does email, Netflix and an occasional internet search, she would like to avoid springing for a new computer. The battery is fully charged and we already tried a different (newer) power supply. Does this sound like a motherboard issue (in which case she's better off just buying a new laptop) or could there be a virus or malware that does this?

Thanks for any help whatsoever!

MacBook Air keeps shutting off

Hi,

Today I was syncing my iPhone up woth my MBA, while doing so the screen went black. I thought it was the same thing that was happeneing to other people with MBA's where the screen shuts off and then turns back on after a few swconds. However, this wasn't the case. I waited about a minute or two and just pressed the power button, when doing so I heard the power on sound and my MacBook powerwd on. Now this has happened to me a total of 5 times in the span of just 15 minutes and it is only while I am in iTunes. It's open in the background right now and it's fine, but when I go to play music my computer shuts off.

Could someone please tell me how to fix this??

Thanks,

Hunter
