Can you turn on the battery % like on my phone- I can't find on ipod

I can't seem to find where to turn on the battery percentage on my New iPod 5gen. I have the phone and like the feature but can't find to turn it on on my iPod. Someone said on line there is a firewall and can't be done.... Who knows.
