iPods battery doesnt charge, it used to charge but now when I connect the ipod to computer, itunes opens as normal, it synchonizes and says "charging" in the ipod's screen. But when I disconnect the ipod after an hour, the battery is empty!

i installed itunes 10.5 64bit on ma windows 7, the application opens normally but when i try to add any file or folder to the library, it experiences a problem and closes the app. do i need a specific apple id account to run the app.?
